Silk City Diner Tags

The Paterson Vehicle Company produced Silk City Diners from 1927 until 1964. Here are examples of some of the styles of tags they used to identify their products.

  2. The tag with the serial number is usually located over the front door. Supplementary tags can also sometimes be found in the center of the backbar. In a lot of cases though, the tags have been removed, either when the diner sits vacant for a while, as it’s an easy part to pop off, or when the place changes hands and the owner wants part of the diner to remember it by.
