Sunil Cleaners

Sometime between the 1980s and now, this space age diner lost its everything and became a cleaner’s.
9313 Astoria Blvd. Queens, NYC. Two doors to the left is another diner. They practically share a parking lot. More to come on that one.

  1. I saw the inside of this diner on September 29, 2001. It was closed then, but still intact. It was the Deerhead Diner, built by Paramount, and somebody (possibly Mario Monti) told me that it was brought in anticipating business from the 1964 World’s Fair. The BIG problem is, it was owned by the Buccaneer Diner next door, and even though they were nice enough to unlock the door and let us inside, they were NOT willing to lease to another restaurant (competition.) The diner appeared in an episode of the TV series Third Watch, where an explosion was rigged in the diner and filmed (there went the nice big windows and probably a lot of other stuff.) Then it was remodeled to its present bland non-diner state.
