Here’s the new Silver Diner, replacing the 1989 Kullman a couple blocks down Rockville Pike. If you scroll back a couple of pages, there are some pics of it under construction.

It’s not a “true” diner, but it follows roughly the dimensions, and looks like it’s been there for a good 35+ years.

There’s nothing left of the interior of this ’30s Kullman turned upscale restaurant, and the Mansard roof dominates the facade, nevertheless, it’s a very rare diner with a mostly in-tact exterior and neon.

I believe the suburban skyliner is no longer in existence. It’s comprised of two silk cities, a mid ’50s and an early ’60s model joined together.

It’s now known as Amy’s Omelette House, and the great neon on the pylon has been replaced by a plastic sign.
I love the lines of this one. The barrel roof makes me think its an earlier diner that was remodeled- I think in one of my diner books there are pictures of it before it was stainlessed up- I’ll have to find those and scan them. DeRaffele did the updating and/or new construction.
