Crabs four ways and an enclosed beer garden so you can drink rain or shine. Sounds like Baltimore in a nutshell!

The Barrel

The Barrel Drive in was located on 301 north of Glen Burnie. Unfortunately, I can’t find anything else about the place on the internet- so if you have any information or memories- please drop me a line!
Noted neon preservationist Norman James was kind enough to send me a photo of “The Barrel” when it was still operational.

Roussel’s Restaurant
Roussel’s was also located in LaPlace, LA. It originally sported a much flashier neon.
Airline Motors Restaurant
The Airline Motors Restaurant opened in 1939 in LaPlace, LA. These photos were taken by my father, Michael G. Stewart, in the late ’70s/early ’80s timeframe.

West Reading Diner
More old diner photos. Every time I turn around I seem to find more diners I haven’t published here yet. These photos were taken c.2005.
Pennsylvania’s West Reading Diner had received a light retro-remodeling to the exterior- it sports more quilted stainless in these photos than it came out of the factory with. The interior has also been re-done. But the overall exaggerated modern lines of the diner are still in-tact.
Mike’s Diner – NYC
Ed Engel found a photo of this old barrel roof diner while searching through the 1980s NYC DOF tax photos online. Full record here. It’s still there, though as seems to be the case with these 80+ year old diners, it looks to be hacked to bits and barely recognizable.

S. Cremona and Company
S. Cremona made postcards advertising a variety of renovation/build-out services for bars, restaurants, banquet halls, Chinese restaurants, Delis, and other food service establishments.
At some point they also renovated old diners. I’d be very interested to know how many and which diners they did. Anyone recognize the one from this postcard?
